Padres win their first series of the season

The Friars took on the Arizona Diamondbacks on a 4 game season series that opened up their 2021 season. The Padres played from April 1st to April 4th, winning three out of the four games against the D-Backs.

Korean infielder Ha Seong Kim made his MLB debut against the D-Backs, and managed to register his first hit in the MLB. Eric Hosmer has started the season well, with 7 hits out of 11 at bats. Joe Musgrove, a San Diego native made his debut with the Padres on Saturday night, striking out 8 batters in 6 innings.

Although they won the series and played well, the Padres had their fair share of mistakes. Most notably from the 340 million dollar man, Fernando Tatis Jr. Tatis stepped up to the plate 16 times this series, out of those 16 AB, he struck out 6 times, and currently has a .188 batting average. Even worse, he has made 5 errors during this series. For comparison, Tatis made a total of 3 errors in the 2020 season.

The Friars move on to a three game series at home against the San Fransisco Giants.
